Our journey living with Sidney, our puppy dog diagnosed with Canine Congenital Megaesophagus. Sidney is a chocolate lab on a special routine and diet. This is our story caring for his special needs. Due to Megaesophagus, he eats vertically in a Bailey Chair.

Stopping Bethanechol
Sidney has been on Bethanechol for the past 7 years or so. He is getting older now and we know that it could possibly affect his ability to control his bladder at some point when he gets really old. So we started by just eliminating the evening pill for about a month. Then we started alternating days in the morning until we stopped completely. It has been about a month now and it seems like stopping the Bethanechol has not affected anything. Sidney is still the same and is doing well. The only medication he now takes is a Prilosec in the evenings.
Sidney will turn 8 years old in September and counting!
